The MCP73833/4 is a highly advanced linear charge management controller for use in space-limited, cost-sensitive applications. Both a 10-lead, MSOP and a 10-lead, DFN packaging measuring 3 mm by 3 mm are offered for the MCP73833/4. In addition to its tiny size, the MCP73833/4 is perfect for portable applications because it requires a few additional components. The MCP73833/4 can comply with all USB power bus specifications for applications that charge from a USB port. A constant current/constant voltage charge algorithm with customizable preconditioning and charge termination is used by MCP73833/4. To meet evolving battery charging needs, the constant voltage regulation is fixed with four options: 4.20V, 4.35V, 4.40V, or 4.50V. One external resistor is used to set the constant current value. One external resistor is used to set the constant current value. The MCP73833/ 4 regulates the charge current in high power or hot ambient circumstances by taking into account the die temperature. The device's dependability is preserved while the charge cycle time is optimized thanks to this thermal regulation.

LiPo batteries are gradually taking the place of traditional chemical energy sources as the main source of electricity. The improved gadget enables you to charge medium-capacity LiPo cells with critical working life and operational safety. It is powered by a USB port or a mobile phone charger. It provides full charge cycle signaling and stronger current charging (up to 1A) than the previous one.

A temperature sensor integrated into the MCP73833 charger IC controls the charging current when the system temperature rises too high. It is recommended to use a small heat sink adhesive and a power supply that offers a consistent supply voltage of +5 V to facilitate the loss of power.

The MCP73833 charger is powered from the micro USB connector by +5 V. A 10K NTC thermistor in the system regulates the temperature of the charged cells and limits the charging current when needed. LEDs show three different statuses: PWR (power on), CHG (link charge), and OK (full charge). The charged battery is connected to the Lipo battery socket. A 4-pin EH socket is what most cells have in common. The supplied voltage is filtered by capacitors C1 and C2.
