ⅠWhat is CR2450 Battery?

 

CR2450 is a non-rechargeable button battery of the CR family series. CR2450 button lithium battery, named according to IEC standard. C- is a chemical battery system with lithium metal as the negative electrode and manganese dioxide as the positive electrode. CR- indicates that the battery's shape is a button. 2450 represents the standard size of the battery, the name of the button battery is the first two digits (one digit below 10mm) is the diameter, and the last two digits are the thickness. 24 in 2450 means the diameter is 24mm, 5 means the height of the battery is 5mm, and 0 means the shape of the battery is cylindrical.

ⅢWhat is the Working Current of the CR2450 Battery?

 

Working current refers to the current value that the battery can output when it is working. The rated current value of CR2450 is 0.2mA, which is mainly used for low-power electronic products. Generally, the battery can provide an output current of 0.001mA to 5mA, and the continuous output current can reach 15mA, the flash output current can reach 30mA, which can meet the requirements of most small electronic products such as light emission, sound generation, and RF output.

ⅤCan CR2450 be Replaced with CR2032?

 

No, the CR2450 cannot be replaced with CR2032.  Even though they have the same voltage and chemical composition, due to differences in their dimensions, they cannot replace each other.

The battery compartment of any application has a default size. The CR2450 and CR2032 have a difference of 4 mm in diameter and 1.8 mm in thickness. So, inserting one battery into another battery’s compartment is practically difficult.

 What Battery can Replace CR2450?

 

LiR2450 is a typical label for rechargeable 2450 batteries. According to the exact chemistry used, the LiR2450 battery typically features nominal voltages of 3.0, 3.2, 3.6, and 3.7 volts. But only 3.0V rechargeable LiR2450 batteries have a similar (equivalent) output voltage that never goes over 3.0 volts and doesn't endanger delicate circuits. Therefore, it can be used as a direct substitute for CR2450 batteries.

 

 

 What are CR2450 Applications?

 

  • As a backup power supply for instruments, meters, industrial control boards, etc.
  • Luminous and sound-emitting electronic products.

 

How to use (connection method with PCB board)

  1. There are plug-in or patch feet on the button battery holder, which can be soldered to the holes or pads of the PCB board. The battery is placed in the battery holder.
  2. Spot welding on the battery, soldering pins, and soldering the battery with feet on the PCB.

 Notes:

(1) Battery spot welding will generate high temperatures and pressure, which can easily damage the electrical performance of the battery. So, if you are not a professional manufacturer, please do not weld the battery.

(2) The spot-welded battery cannot be wave-soldered, which will cause the battery to be short-circuited and scrapped.

 

 How to identify CR and SR Batteries?

 

When identifying the type of button cell battery you may have, please be sure to differentiate between silver oxide and lithium or alkaline batteries. These batteries are identified by an alphanumeric code. Typically the first letters in the alphanumeric code will identify the type of battery. The first letters  (LR) indicates an Alkaline battery and may be thrown in the trash.  Batteries with the first letters (CR) indicate a Lithium battery, (and SR) indicates Silver Oxide which contains heavy metals.  Batteries that are identified by a letter (P) are rechargeable and contain heavy metals and/or mercury. Button Cell batteries contain heavy metals or mercury and can be taken to any Household Hazardous Waste event or checked with a local home improvement store every Best Buy store has free kiosks, just inside the door, for customers to drop off rechargeable or button batteries for recycling.

 

 

What are the Use Instructions for CR2450 Batteries?

 

Lithium batteries contain unstable chemical materials, such as lithium, organic solvents, and some chemical components. Misuse of lithium batteries may cause the battery to heat up, catch fire or explode, which may cause personal injury. To avoid accidents caused by using batteries, please read the following instructions carefully:

 

  1. Do not pile up the batteries in a disorderly and exposed manner. When using and storing the battery, avoid direct contact between the positive and negative electrodes of the battery, and avoid contact between the battery and the surface of other metal materials. Because this will cause the battery to be short-circuited with a strong current and generate a lot of heat, causing the battery to catch fire and explode.
  2. Do not throw the battery into the fire. It is dangerous to throw the battery into a fire, which may explode and burn.
  3. Do not heat the battery. When a lithium battery is heated to 100°C (212°F), the rubber ring and other parts used for sealing are made of materials such as resin, which may be melted when heated, causing electrolyte leakage and internal short circuits, This may cause an explosion and fire.
  4. Do not solder directly on the battery surface. The heat generated during welding may damage the sealing rubber ring and other parts, resulting in electrolyte leakage and internal short circuit, which may cause explosion and fire.
  5. Do not charge the battery. If the battery is charged, gas will be generated inside the battery, causing the inside of the battery to expand rapidly and cause an explosion and fire.
  6. Do not disassemble the battery. When the battery is disassembled, a gas that irritates the throat will be produced. At the same time, the lithium sheet inside the battery easy to produces a strong chemical reaction with water and air, resulting in an explosion.
  7. Do not deform the battery. When strong pressure is applied to the battery, the sealing ring of the battery and other parts of the battery will be deformed and damaged, resulting in battery leakage and an internal short circuit, which will cause the battery to heat up, catch fire and explode.
  8. Batteries of different types cannot be mixed. Due to the different voltage and capacity of different types of batteries and new and old batteries, mixing them will cause the battery to over-discharge and cause the danger of swelling and explosion.
  9. Correctly install and use the battery to prevent battery short circuits and wrong positive and negative poles. Different electrical appliances should be equipped with corresponding batteries. When installing, pay attention to whether the positive and negative poles of the battery are consistent with the positive and negative polarities of the electrical appliances.
